On the 15 August 2019 the Luthuli Museum facilitated the first half (Group A) of the annual Luthuli Museum Spelling BEE Contest. There were 13 primary schools from the Ilembe District which participated. The contest is divided into two groups. Group A – English first langue and Group B – English second language will be held on the 16 August 2019. There was a draw to determine which school would compete against each other. The learners which spelled the most words correctly advanced to the elimination round for their respective rounds. The learners which spelled the most correct words in the elimination round were the ultimate winners of the contest.
