The memorial lecture was organised by the Department of Sports Arts and Culture, the Luthuli Foundation, Luthuli Museum and the University of KwaZulu-Natal. The objective of this Annual Memorial Lecture is to promote the principles and values of Chief Albert Luthuli, namely, peace; human rights; justice, and the coexistence of people in harmony irrespective of race; colour or creed. The Lecture provides an opportunity to revisit and reflect on the legacy of Chief Albert Luthuli, a freedom fighter, a Nobel peace laureate, a remarkable man, a beacon of hope for many people and a champion for justice and human rights.
